Mayank Agarwal ruled out of first Test

India suffered another injury blow ahead of the four-match Test series vs England as opener Mayank Agarwal was ruled out of the opening match of the series. Mayank Agarwal was hit on the helmet while batting during India’s nets session at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Monday.

Mayank Agarwal, who has so far played 14 Tests for India, showed signs of concussion and was ruled out of the opening Test of a 5-match series, a BCCI press release said.

India are already suffering from a series of injuries after the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in June.

Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan have been ruled out of the series with Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav added as replacements. The pair, however, will have to quarantine for 10 days and will be available from the third Test.

Agarwal was assessed by the BCCI medical team and a concussion test was conducted. However, Mayank Agarwal, 30 is stable and will remain under close medical observation.
