The first Test between India and England ended in a draw as rain washed out the final day at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
Persistent rain delayed the start of play between India and England on the fifth day before washing out the first session. After some respite, an official inspection was due for 7:00 PM IST but it never took place as rain returned.
An early tea was taken, after which the call was taken and play was abandoned on the fifth day. Chasing 209 to win, India were in a comfortable position till the end of fourth day’s play, reaching 52/1 with Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara at the crease.
India needed 157 runs to win on the final day but rain ensured that not a single ball could be bowled.
